  • Good eats in the area

For all you Foodies out there - there are some really great restaurants within a couple blocks of the hotel.  Jane R. will have some dining guide books for you to peruse at the NLADA membership desk in the exhibitor area.  But a few of my favorites include:  Lebanese Taverna (Conn. Ave.); Taste of India; Sake Club and New Heights (American cuisine).  There are also a couple of good pizza places and a little cafe called Cafe Paradiso that serve tasty food as well.  Happy eating!

I just pulled my Time Magazine out of the mail box and saw this on the Verbatim page.

'A lot of public defenders are starting to stand up and say, "No more."' DAVID CARROLL, of the National Legal Aid and Defender Association, on growing concerns that state-budget cuts and heavy workloads are undermining the constitutional right to free counsel.

  • Find Members by Name, Location, Title or Company

    Written by Jane / on 11/14/2008 / 0 Comments

I had a great question from a group member today who wanted to know if there was a way to find other participants by State.  And, the answer is Yes!

In fact, you can find members by Name, Location (City, State or Country), Title or Company.  Just go to the Member Profiles page and look for the Browse By box.  The default view is by Most Recent, but you can expand the list and select by Name, Location, Company, etc.  There's also an option to change the View from Face View to List View at the top of the page.  ..

  • Informal lunch and dinner gatherings

    Written by Jane / on 11/07/2008 / 0 Comments

There is free time set aside during the conference, on Thursday at lunch (12-1:30) and Friday for dinner to go out on your own.  To facilitate informal gatherings of groups, use this site's Calendar tool in the Share menu to add your own event and let people RSVP to it.

There are many good restaurants just outside the conference hotel, or you can plan a trip by metro to most locations within the city.  Some restaurants are even offering special "Appetite Stimulus Plan" 3-course menus -- $24 for lunch and $35 for dinner.  Go to http://www.opentable.com/promo.aspx?m=9&ref=4699&pid=329 to view ..
